Every registered domain name has a minimum of 2 Name Server records which show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain name to the servers of a specific web hosting company. That way, you have got both your site and your emails handled by the exact same provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there are a number of other records, for example A and MX. The former shows which server handles the website for a given domain name and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter reveals which server handles the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, any time you enter a domain name in your web browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain name uses and from there you may be forwarded to the servers of a different company if you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain name. Having different records for the website and the emails means you could have your website and your e-mails with two different companies if you wish.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

With a shared hosting package from us, you're going to be able to set up or change the A and MX records of your domain addresses and subdomains easily by using our innovative Hepsia hosting Control Panel. Changing the default records will take 2 clicks and the creation of a new record requires just a couple of more clicks, so although you may have never dealt with such matters, you won't encounter any troubles. We've got an extensive help section that will make things even easier. If you'd like to switch your email provider and you have to set up a number of MX records in addition to the standard 2, you may choose their priority i.e. which record is going to deal with your e-mails first when somebody sends you a message. Normally the new provider will tell you what these values need to be. With our shared plans, you're going to have full control of your domain names and subdomains and you'll be able to handle their A and MX records easily and at any time.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with our semi-dedicated hosting, allows you to see the A and MX records for every one of the domain names or subdomains in your account and if required, to update any of them or create new ones. Controlling these records is incredibly easy since all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so editing a record is as easy as entering it in a box and saving the change. Setting up a new one takes only a few more clicks and in case you experience any troubles, you can check out our educational videos on how to set up A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by individuals with little or no previous experience, yet advanced enough to provide you with complete control of all records and to permit you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you are pointing your e-mails to a different company and they ask you to create more than 2 different MX records, you can select the priority of each one.
